Smart Tag is an RFID tag equipped with electronic paper display. It can keep data displayed on its screen without using any electric power. Power is required when data on the display screen is rewritten or data is read from the tag. Using Smart Tags instead of paper labels saves time and reduces environmental problems. Data including text, graphics or a barcode on the screen are rewritable through Near Field Communication (NFC). A displayed barcode can be read by nearly every type of handheld scanner, so it is possible to immediately use these smart tags in your existing system. Smart Tag is an NFC forum type 3 tag with display function. A FeliCa Plug chip is mounted in Smart Tag.
